International Trade Law Associate (Mid-Level)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated mid-level International Trade Law Associate with 4–6 years of relevant trade law experience. This is a fully remote position offering the opportunity to work on sophisticated matters involving U.S. regulatory agencies and international trade compliance while having flexibility.  The position requires people who are self-motivated, independent, self-disciplined, client-centric and business solution focused.  The position also requires business development skills and interest.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients with strong business solutions focus on U.S. international trade laws and regulations, including sanctions, export controls, customs, CFIUS, OISP, data security program, ecommerce, and logistics laws.  

  • Represent clients before OFAC, BIS, CFIUS,CBP, USCIT, etc.

  • Build compliance programs, conduct internal investigations, and prepare regulatory filings

  • Assist with client development, marketing, and contribute to firm growth initiatives

  • Continue to monitor international trade developments.

  • Collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality legal services

  • Manage multiple matters and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Domestic and international travel is required.

Required Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of relevant legal experience in international trade law (excluding AD/CVD)

  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state or the District of Columbia

  • Eligible for admission to the D.C. Bar within 12 months if not already

  • Authorized to permanently work in the United States

  • Located in the Eastern Time Zone or work East Coast hours

  • Demonstrated experience with OFAC, BIS, CBP, and CFIUS matters

  • Strong work ethic with a high level of self-motivation and discipline not requiring much supervision

  • Proven ability to manage deadlines and handle multiple priorities

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset; intercultural communication skills and ability to handle clients from different cultures

  • Ability and willingness to contribute to business development and client acquisition

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Fluency in Mandarin, Russian, or Arabic

  • Prior U.S. Government experience (i.e. trade attorney positions at regulatory agencies)

  • Prior studies abroad or work abroad
